I find this quite inhumane. As a Muslim American, I find this very hateful and would hate to have this happen to me and my Muslim community throughout the nation.

I don't see what religion has anything to do with this or how it adds value to this particular discussion. You should be offended as a human being, not as a Muslim, or Christian or Pastafarian or whatever.
And why would it ever happen to your community? Are you not Americans? These people are not French citizens, so I guess that's on of the French government's main excuses in doing this.

It's wrong because they will return to Romania, and commit crimes here... but yeah I understand the French to be honest.

It's wrong because:

1. They are European citizens, and thus have freedom of movement within the EU.
2. The deportees are not convicted, and thus innocent people are prosecuted.
3. The problem is not that they are Roma, but that some people are stealing. They should be prosecuted. Being poor is a reason for stealing, so that should be solved as well.

I'm from Bulgaria and despite it's racial discrimination I think the French might be right to a certain extent . The Gypsies are a problem here in my country. They steal, they usually have a LOT of children, who end up begging on the street or left in orphanages, they often are unemployed ........

Hi, everyone, I'm from Greece...
To begin with: mass deportation is a fascist policy...
By practising deportations, Sarkozy is trying to gain his lost reputation, by playing hard against the weak!
(Remember this when you are about to vote for him again...)

The problem of immigration can not be solved by closing borders or massively expulsing people.
Immigration is a part of human nature. It is practiced since the beggining of the history of human race.
When things go wrong in one place (for example the economic crisis that hits southern europe and also my country), a human being has to decide if he can stay, or he should go...(remember the old Clash song "should i stay or should i go"?)

IF (i say if), European Union, WAS a union, in the human sense of a united society,
AND NOT MAINLY a monetary union, looking how to help its banking system...
THEN E.U. should help its minorities,
THEN E.U. should look after the poorest people,
THEN E.U. should research and offer jobs to people that are facing poverty, unemployment, even the dillema of staying IN THE LAND that they were born, or moving IN THE LAND of other, "friendly" people...awaiting to accuse them of being 'minorities'...

Think!

I`m from Romania ... i don`t think is a wise idea, because they are people too you know. I know there were many cases when they steal, murder or other bad things, but they are not all like that ! They leave Romania because they don`t have a choice ... nobody would hire them just because they are gypsies ... they think that if they go in France or Italy, etc. is a better life there....so wrong! The criminals should be in prison, but help the others !!! Thank you !

I don't know too much about what is going on in France, but there is something similar going on in the U.S. with illegal immigrants (except, mass deportation hasn't been on the table...yet). Although I do not approve of illegal immigration, I do not think mass deportation is the answer. I don't know what the solution to the problem would be but whatever it is, it is certainly complicated and delicate.
