the old series will always be the original! maybe not the best but very close....Do you like Enterprise, Voyager or Deepspace 9? they were all good in their own way, but none have surpassed the next gen imo.
i did see some of them, they r cool i guess.Enterprise had a few really nice episodes...man one of my big wishes is to see a star trek directed by terry gilliam or some psychedelic version made out of video collages of previous episodes...
heck yeah - jean-luc picard has a way cool name. although, captain kirk DID have trouble with tribbles (i think thats how you spell it) and NO MAN can be buried in a pile of procrating and dead furballs like this man. i applaud him. but still. jean-luc picard.
Picard all the way. Although I've never really watched the original I've heard there remastering them to re-show! Might have to check them out! Can't wait for the new film. Younger versions of kirk and spock before the series sounds like a good idea! The lost director aswell. Nice combo!
Picard has that rough edge to him. he looks all straight-lace, but when it comes down to it, he's willing to break every rule in the book if it means doing the right thing. not only was Kirk a very dull character, IMO, but Shatner is a horrendous actor. i think if it wasn't for that, i'd enjoy his character a lot more, but given the choice between Kirk and Picard, my choice is obvious. Shatner's acting is what causes me to shy away from the original episodes, truth be told.
i dunno.. the writers gave Picard more as a character. his tendency to be a loner, but then there's the final scene of TNG's finale when he plays cards with the senior staff. his familial ties that come into play both after the Borg conflict, and in the film (Generations) when his brother and nephew die... or maybe i'm just a huge nerd and this doesnt matter
