It's a generational thing, that why the characters are writen differently.
Kirk is more balls and guts to appeal to what the masses were about when the show first aired. Piccard is more analytical and clever, for the generation who was taught to use words and not violence.
Picard all the way. Although I've never really watched the original I've heard there remastering them to re-show! Might have to check them out! Can't wait for the new film. Younger versions of kirk and spock before the series sounds like a good idea! The lost director aswell. Nice combo!
